A wonderful view of an early farmer's cottage and barn etc. The owners can be seen on their jetty in front of their home. Cullen's Point is directly opposite and behind the trees on the right would have been the Brownlee family home, their boat shed and wharf can be clearly seen in the middle of the picture. This little hamlet would have provided a magnificient view of all the shipping that would have passed them directly to head just around the corner to the Brownlee Mill at Blackball.

Dear Mary I am having a lovely time out here and don't know what I shall do when my time is up. I arrived on Sunday we left Nelson about six o'clock and got here at eleven. After a most glorious drive in the moonlight. I had a bad trip on the Maori but was alright the rest of the trip.
