Havelock Township, at the mouth of the Pelorus and Kaituna rivers and the head of Pelorus Sound. Havelock is 43 km north-west of Blenheim and 35 km from Picton via the winding Queen Charlotte Sound coastal drive. The streets were laid out in 1858, but it was the gold rush to the Wakamarina valley in 1864 that brought the township into being.
